Wake Up! It’s Monday Morning: David’s Organic Breakfast Tea

Happy Monday Morning Steepers!

I hope your having a good start to your week, and if not sit down for a minute, relax and make a cup of tea. Everyday might not go smoothly but a little cup of warmth and comfort can make it more bearable and help you feel refreshed to start anew. I for one spilled half of my little tin of David’s Breakfast Tea from the 8 Days of tea set all over my desk this morning. Mondays are rough.

So on to the tea. Breakfast teas are usually a black tea because they have the highest caffeine content of all the camellia sinensis plant tea (the tea tree whose leaves become, white, green, oolong black etc. tea) Black tea has the highest content of caffeine because the leaves are withered, rolled and fermented to oxidize the leaves, which darkens them and creates a rich, deep, sometimes astringent flavour. This type of tea is often produced by China and India, but countries like Kenya in africa are increasing their export of black tea as well.

Black tea is the main kind of tea North Americans drink, as it is “regular” tea a.k.a. orange pekoe, earl grey, english breakfast etc.. I like to enjoy black teas with a hint of cream or milk and sweetener of choice, usually brown or white sugar for me.

David’s Organic Breakfast Tea: “This is the kind of tea that puts you in a great mood, inspires harmonious relationships and makes you outrageously productive. How did we do it? First we selected our favourite organic and biodynamic black teas from India and Nepal. And then we sipped different variations until we’d created the ultimate balance. Could there be a better way to start your day?”

Type: Black Tea
Flavour notes: astringent, rich
Fixings: cream/milk and sugar for me, add to your liking. The English drink it with a slice of citrus as well
